Cabot China output up 25 per cent
Cabot Corporation has said that its Chinese “output capacity” will rise 25 per ecnt along with the operation of a plant in Xingtai, Hebei province. However the company is also quoted by local news sources as saying that it will not seek to go public and make acquisitions in China.
The new plant that the company and Risun, the world biggest coke and chemical product supplier, jointly established in Xingtai is now said to have come into a period of trial operation. Construction of the plant began in April last year. In the first phase the factory is said to have ant output capacity of 130,000 tons of carbon black products annually.
The joint venture is split 60:40 between Cabot and Risun respectively. According to reports Cabot makes about US$500 million of income each year, 15 per cent of which is generated in China.
