Bridgestone announces ‘biggest national competition’ winner
Bridgestone has announced the winner of what it describes as the brand’s biggest UK competition. Warwick motorist Tony Hamilton beat 1,218 other entrants to win an £8,000 Volkswagen Up! hatchback. He was automatically entered into the draw when he purchased a set of Bridgestone tyres from his local Britannia Tyres centre in Nuneaton. Bridgestone’s sales development executive Phil Berry said: “The competition exceeded all of our expectations, so much so that we extended it for a third month over the summer to cater for demand.
“We received more than 1,000 entries, while being able to showcase our different ranges of tyres. The uptake was fantastic and we look forward to similar sales incentives in the coming months.”
The campaign, in association with Bridgestone, ran nationally across 79 fast fit centres in the UK, including Elite, Farmer, Savoy and Tyre Spot garages, as well as the Britannia Tyres network. Britannia Tyres’ operations director Blair Dickens said: “To be able to present the car from our Nuneaton centre means a lot to us.
“The campaign itself really stimulated sales and we all put a lot of effort into making it a success. To see the faces of the winning family is a highlight of our year and we hope to see them in the future, when the Volkswagen Up eventually needs a new set of tyres!”
Moreton Morrell resident, Hamilton said: “We don’t usually win anything, so to be presented with a Volkswagen Up is more than we ever dreamed of. Our son Charles has been driving for a year, so we are thinking of letting him use the car in the future – if he behaves himself! We love the car to bits. It is great fun to drive and if Charles is lucky enough to get behind the wheel, we will know he is in one of the best little cars currently on the market.”
