Blackcircles launches first Tesco Click & Fit in Bletchley
The first “Click & Fit” tyre service has launched at Tesco in Bletchley. The service allows customers to order tyres and make a fitting appointment through Tesco’s tyre partner Blackcircles’s website, before dropping off their car at a “Pit Stop” fitting bay at the supermarket. Tesco told local news source the Milton Keynes Citizen that customers could expect discounted tyre prices and Clubcard reward scheme points as extra incentives for using the service. An idea in the works since the companies partnered on the Tesco-Tyres.com website in January 2011, the potential for rolling out this model nationwide is clear, given the supermarket giant’s UK prominence.
Peter Cattell, category director, petrol filling stations and forecourt services at Tesco, told the Milton Keynes Citizen that Click & Fit “is a great opportunity for us to work together with Blackcircles.com to offer our customers a unique service – the ease of ordering online, the convenience of being able to shop at Tesco while their tyres are changed on-site, great prices, and Clubcard points too.”
Mike Welch, managing director and founder of Blackcircles.com, has discussed his company’s partnership with Tesco as key to the Peebles-based e-tailer’s growth. He characterises the new development as a potential “game changer for the UK tyre market,” explaining: “This deal is great news for UK motorists. With so many tyre sizes, makes and models these days it’s a lottery whether the high street tyre shop has your tyre in stock or the time to fit you in when you get there.
“By bringing together the Tesco Clubcard offer and convenience of the Tesco store locations with the Blackcircles.com business model and supply chain we have been able to create an appointment based market leading Clicks & Bricks tyre service for UK motorists.”
The model fits with Tesco’s existent Click & Collect points and Tesco Direct service, which allow customers to shop online and pick up items at another time. The company has 150 Dotcom points and over 1,500 Direct points around the UK.
