Supertracker invited to sit in on tyre retailer’s alignment session
Supertracker reports that a growing number of tyre retailers are using the company's concepts to tailor their own in-house training sessions. UK sales manager and principal engineer Jerry Barker was recently invited to sit in on a specialised advanced wheel alignment course by one of the UK's leading tyre and automotive retailers.
The intensive day long course was attended by the tyre retailer’s staff from around the UK and concentrated on explaining the physics of the wheel alignment operation. The ultimate objective was to give the staff an initial basic understanding of modern wheel alignment. A certain amount of ‘student participation’ underlined the use of manufacturers’ data and things to look out for when inspecting a vehicle prior to a wheel alignment check. Other areas covered included under-steer and over-steer, as well as checking the steering arm and camber levels.
Barker states: “The course was extremely thorough and I was impressed by the amount of detail incorporated into the training session. Spending the day seeing how other companies view and carry out alignment training was very interesting. In my opinion this session perfectly underlined how some of our most progressive thinking customers have really taken on board the immense importance of wheel alignment training and adapted it to their own working environments to ensure their staff fully appreciate the safety aspect and profit potential of professional wheel alignment.”
Wheel alignment specialist Supertracker holds monthly training programmes at its specialised Wheel Alignment Centre in Southampton, which is open to both Supertracker customers and any other company interested in learning more about modern alignment techniques and theory. Tyres & Accessories previously reported from the Southampton centre in November 2012 as the company celebrated 25 years in business. Barker was on hand to deliver a full introduction to the theory and practice of alignment.
