Pirelli to sponsor Le Mans camping village
Pirelli will sponsor the camping area situated on the Porsche Curves formerly known as the Porsche Owners International Village at Le Mans this weekend. Pirelli UK managing director, Dominic Sandivasci, commented: “We are delighted to sponsor the race camping village at Le Mans once again this year. Simply put, there is no better place to watch the race action than the Porsche Curves and the Pirelli camping village caters for everyone’s needs.”
The Village on the Curves is situated at a spectacular vantage point on the 8.5 mile Circuit de la Sarthe. The cars enter the Porsche Curves in fifth gear, which is a fast but narrow complex of sweeping bends with little run-off and makes it one of the best places to watch the legendary 24 hour race.
Open this week, the Village on the Curves is a well-known meeting and camping site for Porsche owners. This year, the FF Corse team are staying on the site in order to compete on this weekend’s Pirelli-backed European Ferrari Challenge round.
Pirelli has a long history with Le Mans after the Italian tyre firm won the race back in 1954, with Maurice Trintignant and Jose Froilan Gonzalez in a Ferrari 375 MM.
