PT Pamapersada celebrates 5 years retreading
Five years ago Indonesia’s leading contract mining company PT Pamapersada Nusantara (PAMA) decided to install a turn-key OTR retread facility from Rösler in Balikpapan. Now the company is celebrating half a decade since the successful completion of the project. Rösler engineered and designed the entire factory, supplied the equipment and transferred the know-how. In total over 200 tons of equipment was shipped from Germany to the island of Borneo where in February 2008 the first 27.00R49 tyre was retreaded.
PAMA has proved to be a global pioneer with this successful investment into its retread facility and has further strengthened their industry leading position as the largest Indonesian mining contractor in Southeast Asia. PAMA is now able to retread up to 1,000 tyres per year with a maximum tyre size of 33.00R51. This strategic decision not only secured PAMA‘s tyre supply for their fleet of more than 2,800 vehicles, but also improved their overall out-of-service tyre costs.
Norbert Bogun, Head of Project Management at Rösler stated: “It is exciting and extremely rewarding to see the development process of PAMA‘s retread facility over the past 5 years. Their success is the result of the hard work of all the people involved in this project and I look forward to new and even greater achievements together as a team.“
For 2013 PAMA is planning to continue improving the output of their retread facility. Currently PAMA is evaluating expansion plans to meet the increasing demand.
