Michelin’s X-Tweel SSL an Edison Awards finalist
The Tweel concept has been around for the best part of a decade, and earlier this year commercial sales of Tweel products began. The first on the market, the Michelin X-Tweel SSL, is a finalist in the 2013 Edison Awards. The X-Tweel SSL appears in the Transportation category, one of 12 Edison Awards categories. Winners will be announced on 25 April.
“This is a tremendous honour for Michelin,” said Tim Fulton, head of Michelin Tweel Technologies. “Michelin’s Tweel first fascinated the world with the concept of the airless radial tyre, and we are now using this revolutionary technology in the construction, agriculture, refuse and landscaping industries.”
The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards is judged by more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics from across the nation whose votes acknowledge the finalists’ success in meeting the award criteria of Concept, Value, Delivery and Impact. “More than any year, this year’s slate of finalists demonstrate the enormous value of teamwork, experimentation, consumer focus, market awareness and game-changing success,” said Frank Bonafilia, Edison Awards’ executive director. “It’s exciting to see companies like Michelin continuing Thomas Edison’s legacy of challenging conventional thinking.”
The X-Tweel SSL is currently available for skid steer loaders, such as those used in the landscaping, construction, contracting, refuse/recycling and agricultural industries.
