Hankook kicks off new Superstars season
A successful start to the Superstars and GT Sprint International Series was enjoyed by tyre supplier Hankook. The opening round of the two SWR promoted series at Monza took place in conditions Hankook Tire describes as “tricky”, with occasional rain and cool temperatures demanding the upmost performance from drivers and tyres. The tyre maker says the Ventus slicks received “high praise” from top drivers for their “reliable performance and high level of consistency.”
After cruising to a clear-cut victory in the second Superstars race, 2010 Superstars Champion Thomas Biagi, a driver who is no stranger to Hankook tyres, commented: “With a more a powerful engine, with more torque I really appreciate the consistency of the tyres even more.” In view of the demanding track conditions, FG Sprint contender Max Pigoli added: “Today we have seen very diverse and difficult racing conditions. The cold and wet made it difficult for all of us to bring the slicks up to their optimal working temperature. I was pleased to see that the slicks work so well even under such dangerous conditions.”
Hankook says it develops, tests and manufactures its Ventus race tyres to add to the excitement of racing; it says the tyres deliver “premium performance even under the most challenging circumstances.” The Ventus tyres supplied to the Superstars and GT Sprint Series are the F200 slick and Z207 rain tyre.
The two SWR promoted series will be back on-track on 18 and 19 May in Brno, Czech Republic. They head our way later in the year for a round at Donington on 31 August and 1 September.
