Bridgestone announces Kidderminster winner in VW promo
A Kidderminster motorist has been named the winner of Bridgestone’s national competition to win a new £8,000 Volkswagen Up! hatchback. Lynne Wilson was automatically entered into the draw when she purchased a set of Bridgestone tyres from her local National Tyres and Autocare centre in Worcester Road – only to forget all about it.
The Manor Avenue South resident said: “I was so shocked when I was told the news that I started hyperventilating! I was in utter disbelief. When I entered I never imagined that I would win and had forgotten all about it. I only went in to buy a new set of Bridgestone tyres and ended up with a prize like this.
“I love the car to bits. There are not very many on the road and it is great fun to drive. I feel like I’m floating on a cloud every time I go to drive it. Not many people can claim to have won a car before. I never usually win anything, so to pick up the keys to a new car is just amazing.”
The campaign, in association with Bridgestone, ran nationally across National Tyres’ 226 outlets, promoting an environmental message through the offering of the fuel efficient Volkswagen Up! as the main prize.
National Tyres’ Kidderminster branch manager Paul Hinkinbottom said: “We were delighted that the winner was a customer from our branch. We put a lot of effort into the campaign and the result is a real feather in our cap.”
Bridgestone’s training development manager Mark Fereday said: “We were delighted with the success of our campaign and even more pleased to find a winner who will put our first prize to such good use. We received hundreds of entries while being able to showcase our different ranges of tyres, which have been designed to cater for all types of drivers in all types of conditions and environments.”
