Commercial vehicle sales fall across Europe
Demand for new heavy trucks (over 16 tonnes, excluding buses and coaches) declined the most sharply across segments in January (-18.4 per cent), totalling 15,510 vehicles. All major markets contracted, from -9.3 per cent in Italy to -11.1 per cent in Spain, -15.4 per cent in France and -22.0 per cent in Germany and the UK.
Double-digit drop in light CV sales across Europe
Sales of light commercial vehicles (over 3.5 tonnes excluding Buses & Coaches) were also negative (-17.2 per cent), reflecting the general downturn across most markets. All significant markets recorded a double-digit decline, ranging from -10.1 per cent in Spain to -14.2 per cent in Italy, -15.1 per cent in France, -19.5 per cent in Germany and -21.2 per cent in the UK. In total, 20,306 new trucks were registered in the EU.
