New motorcycle tyre sales manager at Michelin UK
Simon Winstanley has taken over as Michelin’s motorcycle tyre sales manager for the UK and Ireland. Based at the company’s headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, Winstanley will head-up a field sales force of four account managers and one key account manager. With 13 years of experience in the tyre industry, Winstanley has worked in a number of departments at Michelin and has held various marketing and sales roles. His most recent position was as manager of the Michelin customer service centre in Stoke-on-Trent.
Speaking of his appointment, Winstanley said: “I am really looking forward to this new and exciting challenge and aim to build on the very strong position Michelin has in the UK and Irish markets today. Michelin’s current market share has been built on a firm foundation of great performing products, such as the Pilot Road 3, and a motivated and experienced sales team. Taking these factors into account, and with our new 2013 range now on dealers’ shelves, I’m sure we can continue to strengthen our position and offer motorcyclists innovative products that make biking safer and more enjoyable.”
Michelin’s 2013 radial product range includes the existing Pilot Road 3 sport touring tyre, the new Anakee 3 dual-purpose tyre, the Pilot Power 3 sports tyre and the Power SuperSport fast road and trackday tyre.
In April, other new additions to the range will include the Anakee Wild – an off-road version of the Anakee 3, the Pilot Street for mid-size motorcycles and a version of the Pilot Road 3 designed specifically for the BMW K1600GT.
