Further redundancies following Quinton Hazell administration
Quinton Hazell Automotive Limited's administrators and its parent company Klarius Group have announced 117 redundancies at the QH Glasson Dock site in Lancaster and 79 redundancies at the QH Colwyn Bay site in North Wales. Both sites have ceased to operate. The news follows the announcement of the sale of the firm's Cheadle operation earlier today (which secured jobs there) and the closure of the QH distribution business in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
According to the administrators, a small number of employees have been retained across the sites to assist the administrators in the winding down process. However it appears that most, if not all, employees at the non-Cheadle operations are being made redundant. This means there are likely to be around 250 job losses in total.
Paul Flint, Joint Administrator and Restructuring Partner at KPMG, commented: “Despite extensively marketing the Glasson Dock and Colwyn Bay sites to potential buyers, we were unable to find a buyer and have taken the difficult decision to wind them down.”
Representatives from KPMG report that they are on site to provide support and further information to employees in claiming redundancy payments and will be assisting the Redundancy Payments Office.
