Dunlop BluResponse victor in Auto Express 1-on-1 test
The newcomer draws first blood – only a month after its launch, Dunlop’s Sport BluReponse has beaten the Michelin Energy Saver + in a head-to-head ‘mini test’ carried out by Auto Express magazine. Reporting its victory, Dunlop quotes comments made by tyre tester Jamie Fretwell from Auto Express, who declared the BluResponse a “worthy addition” to the tyre maker’s range.
“Polymers in the tyre help it adapt to the road surface quickly and it gripped for longer than the Michelin…cornering grip in the wet was impressive and the car turned in nicely, with the tyre’s stiff outer shoulder helping here,” reported Fretwell. “The Michelin was first to lose traction in corners, and it’s more expensive too, ensuring the Dunlop comes out on top in this comparison.”
Commenting on the magazine mini-test win, Kate Rock, Consumer and Brand PR manager for Dunlop said: “We are pleased to see that our new Dunlop eco tyre is performing well in magazine tests already. We have every confidence in this new tyre as the TÜV testing showed that it was better than its key competitors in several key test areas. The new tyre offers impressive wet braking, with up to three metres shorter braking distance versus the average results of competitors in the TÜV test. Its superiority also appears in wet handling, with up to three per cent versus the average scores of tested competitors.
“As well as these impressive credentials the tyre also rates very highly on the new EU Tyre Label which provides a rating on rolling resistance, wet grip and noise,” Rock added. “The BluResponse came out with a market leading BA rating.”
