Acorn Infinity Motorsport signs Biagioni for BDC
Acorn Infinity Motorsport has announced the signing of ex-Team Japspeed driver Stephen Biagioni, for the 2013 Maxxis British Drift Championship. The news follows details of the team’s plans to compete in all three classes in this year’s championship, doubling the number of cars competing to four; the man known as “Baggsy” finished fifth out of 33 competitors in the 2012 series’ Super Professional class, helping Japspeed claim the Team Championship. In 2013 he joins founding members Mark Lappage and Ian Waddington, and new academy driver in the Semi Professional class, Martyn Lowe in the expanded Acorn Infinity Motorsport team, which will look to improve on its fourth-place finish in 2012.
Biagioni commented: “I am very grateful for the faith and commitment Acorn Infinity Motorsport have already shown me and I have every confidence that the team will do all they can to provide me with the vehicle and the support required to achieve success in the future. They are clearly set up to grow and evolve into an even stronger team and I am looking forward to this fresh challenge.
“The team at Japspeed could not have done any more for me in my time there and I will always look back on my time with them with great affection. They showed great faith in me and I hope my performances and commitment to them during my time there were appreciated”.
Partners Acorn Insurance and Infinity Tyres were instrumental in signing Biagioni. Acorn stated: “Capturing Baggsy’s signature in only our second year of existence goes to show how far the team have come in such a short space of time. The whole team performed superbly in 2012 and we have every confidence they will go from strength to strength in the years ahead. We look forward to sharing in their future success.”
Meanwhile Infinity said it was “enthusiastic about Baggsy joining the successful group of people that make Acorn Infinity Motorsport what it is today. Their total commitment to getting the job done and working to the highest possible standards gives us great confidence in supporting them in 2013 and beyond. The investment in the team is the largest commitment we have ever made in motorsport and this is due to their ongoing professionalism and dedication.”
