Snap-on launches Verus Pro hand-held diagnostic tool
Snap-on Diagnostics has introduced the new Snap-on Verus Pro hand-held diagnostic tool for workshop technicians. The company says the latest addition to its hand-held diagnostic range offers a complete solution for UK garages and bodyshops. The Verus Pro is fast, powerful and portable, providing access to required information sources, scanner, components test metre, scope readings and car-fix information. Snap-on Diagnostics says the range-topping device has been designed to allow the technician to manage the complete job from start to finish.
The Verus Pro runs on Microsoft’s Windows operating system, and other features include Bluetooth and wireless connectivity, meaning the mechanic does not have to leave the service bay in order to access technical forums, OEM websites, online parts suppliers, or favourite web resources. The exclusive Fast-Track Troubleshooter, guided component tests and 4-channel lab/ignition scope also put more solutions at the technician’s fingertips.
In fact, the Verus Pro allows customisation for technicians to develop their own suite of information using exclusive ShopStream Integrated Diagnostic Suite software. Once a vehicle is identified on the system all relevant information – diagnostic as well as information from online forums and vehicle records – will be remembered and all data stored for future use. The scanner contains a built-in camera and has a single keyless adaptor for EOBD applications which connects wirelessly to the display tablet for remote operation. There is OEM specific coverage – from 1992 – for over 29 manufacturers.
Software updates – as with other Snap-on devices – are delivered directly from the Snap-on franchisee van via ScanBay, a simple delivery method introduced five years ago. Snap-on is confident that this will keep Verus Pro at the leading edge of the fast-moving diagnostics market without the need for cartridges or other physical updates.
“Diagnostics is the fastest-moving and most complex area of the automotive Aftermarket,” says Aldo Rodi, UK managing director of Snap-on Tools, “so through our Snap-on ‘family’ we want to ensure that all of our customers have access to the world’s most sophisticated hand-held diagnostic equipment. We are very confident of an extremely positive response when UK technicians have the opportunity to examine our new top-of-the-range Verus Pro and see its unique and exciting, advanced diagnostic capabilities.”
Snap-on’s other handheld diagnostic tools include the entry level Ethos, the recently introduced mid-range Solus Ultra, and alternative top-of-range Modis and Verdict diagnostic platforms.
