Search for best company car driver
A new competition promoting fleet driver safety has been launched today in a bid to find the UK's best Company Car Driver. The ‘Fleet Driver of the Year' award starts in earnest today, with the launch of the entry website at www.fdoty.com. This unique competition is being organised by vehicle leasing company ALD Automotive, in association with Fleet World magazine, and event partners Peak Performance and Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services.
Company Car Drivers who wish to participate in this unique event need to visit the website and register their interest before the 31st January 2013. Once entrants have registered, they will then be asked to complete a short (10 minute) online survey, which will test their Driving Safety and Highway Code knowledge.
The top performing drivers will then be asked to complete a simple Fleet Driver Risk Index (FDRI) – an online questionnaire which identifies personality traits which might indicate a good…or not so good driver.
After the FDRI questionnaire, leading contenders will have their driving style monitored over a control period, with the top 20 being invited to compete in the final which takes place at the Fleet World Fleet Show at Silverstone on Wednesday 24th April 2013.
Driver assessments will be carried out by a team of professionals from Peak Performance and the final will be carried out in Auris Hybrids supplied by Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services.
The competition is open to any Fleet Manager or Company Car Driver in the UK, including those with cars sourced through salary sacrifice or employee car ownership schemes. Unfortunately, the event is NOT open to Commercial Van Drivers.
Mel Dawson, Managing Director for ALD Automotive said: “ALD Automotive has a long history of involvement in helping to make fleets safer. This new initiative, which will see the winner crowned at the Fleet World Fleet Show in April, will be great fun for those involved, but will also carry the message that fleet driver safety is a serious issue and not something to pay lip service to.”
Fleet Show organiser Ross Durkin said: “We’re delighted to be working with ALD Automotive, Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services and Peak Performance to introduce a new event to the fleet calendar. It will be one of the highlights of a show that already promises to be one of the major fleet events of the year.”
