Italmatic increases focus on aviation tyre retreading
Italian firm Italmatic has been engaged in the manufacture of tyre retreading machinery since 1967. Today, the company operates two factories; its Cassina de’ Pecchi plant, just outside the city of Milan, produces inspection machines, buffers, builders, extruders, buffing blades, wheels, while the Capannori facility near Lucca specalises in autoclaves, presses and moulds. Italmatic says it is the only company capable of supplying machinery for the retreading of any kind of tyre and for any requirement from A to Z, through the supply of complete turnkey plants.
The retreading equipment supplier reports that it recently delivered a ‘Matic Avio 1700’ computerised buffer to an important aircraft tyre retreader; the buffer is capable of handling aircraft tyres up to a maximum diameter of 1,750mm and a maximum tyre section of 730mm. The new computerised buffing machine, says Italmatic, is equipped “with the most modern devices”, including a with 12.5-inch colour touch screen, Rockwell brushless motors, blades cooling system, automatic circumference measurer, steel plies detector and automatic brushing group.
Considering that Italmatic already offers a range of presses and moulds for aircraft tyre retreading, such as the Matic Boom 2000 and Matic AF 1600 presses, the introduction of the Matic Avio 1700 buffer means the Italian company now has a complete range of machinery for this segment. Furthermore, a year ago Italmatic Italy took over OTR and aviation tyre retreading equipment manufacturer MGT Tyre in a deal that includes the brand and the related technology and know-how.
Dr. Massimo Ghitturi, CEO of Italmatic Italy, described the takeover of MGT as a further step in the company’s plans to invest in its technology and human resources with a view to becoming ‘the leading company in the worldwide retreading equipment market.’ He commented that “MGT and Italmatic Customers have available the best and latest technology supplied by the most experienced group and this combination assures the best service and performance.”
Italmatic Italy says it now boasts the most advanced range of computerised equipment for OTR retreading up to 63-inches and aviation tyres.
