UK launch for Sava Sportforce
Bike Tyrestore plans to introduce a new Sava range to UK customers at the Motorcycle Trade Expo show in Birmingham in the second half of January. This new product, the Sportforce radial, is aimed at riders of sports, naked and Supermoto motorcycles as well as for riders of sports touring machines who enjoy dynamic rides.
According to Sava, the goal when developing the Sportforce was to produce a user-friendly tyre that assures carefree and easy riding in all conditions and assists in riding through the corners. The tyre maker says that the ease of steering with the Sportforce means the tyre makes “a valuable contribution to driving a vehicle into the corner or to timely changing the driving direction on the exit from the corner without requesting a strong steering impulse from the rider.” These are qualities that significantly enhance riding safety, which the tyre maker observes is “of vital importance for inexperienced riders.”
The new product uses a number of new technologies that have snappy initials, including OGT 3D, SCT and FEA:
OGT 3D (3 Dimensional Optimum Groove Technology): OGT-3D technology is an upgrade to Sava’s tread groove design technology Stated key features are optimum tread groove direction, optimum groove depth direction and less compound overheating.
SCT (Strong Carcass Technology): Motorcycle tyres perform best when they are new and not worn, their shape still optimal. Driving characteristics begin to gradually deteriorate through tread wear since the shape of the tyre tread changes, becomes stepped-like and loses its roundness. SCT technology aims to keep carcass rigidity at a high level as the tyre wears, thereby prolonging optimum riding performance throughout the tyre’s service life.
FEA (Optimised Footprint): To obtain the highest road grip, the greatest possible footprint has to be achieved between the tyre and the road surface in the area of the highest lean angles. Using final elements analysis (FEA) and specific computer-assisted simulation software, Sava says an optimum tyre construction was reached; the result is a tyre that is deformable to achieve the highest grip while at the same time is rigid to achieve riding stability.
The Sportforce will be available in the UK from February 2013, in 120/70ZR17 58W and 160/60ZR17 69W. By the middle of 2012 the range will include the six most popular front and rear tyre sizes, with two more to follow in early 2014.
