Pirelli confirms attendance at Autosport Show
Pirelli has confirmed it will appear at the annual Autosport International Show in Birmingham where the Italian tyre manufacturer will showcase a motorsport-focused display that includes the new Pirelli Star Driver Citroen DS3 R3.
Pirelli will bring four cars to the show: a MINI Cooper to represent the Pirelli-backed MINI Challenge, a Nissan GTR that is eligible for the Pirelli-backed GT Cup and a Pirelli-equipped Ferrari 458. Also on display will be a Pirelli-backed Citroen DS3 R3 that will be unveiled by recently-crowned Pirelli Star Driver, Mark Donnelly. Paul Hembery, Pirelli’s motorsport director, will also be in attendance at the show on Thursday 10 January.
Running from 10-13 January, The Autosport International Show is an annual four-day motorsport event held at the NEC and is considered the curtain-raiser to the 2013 motorsport season. It gives drivers, as well as fans from all around the world, the chance to get together to be given a brief insight into the year that lies ahead.
There will also be a Pirelli F1 simulator and Batak game present, where an overall prize for the best score will be up for grabs. All donations will go towards Pirelli’s chosen charity: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
“The Autosport International Show is a fantastic opportunity for us to get close to motorsport fans before the start of another busy season,” explained Pirelli UK managing director, Dominic Sandivasci.
“This year we are showcasing cars from a number of our motorsport programmes from grassroots level up to the world stage. It is fantastic to hear that Mark Donnelly will attend the event: he was recently selected as the new Pirelli Star Driver and we are delighted that he will be there to represent our close involvement with the British Rally Championship. We also try to raise money for our chosen charity whenever we can and the Autosport International Show is the perfect opportunity to start the year with some money raising activities,” added Sandivasci.
