November fall for CV registrations
Commercial vehicle registrations fell by 15.9 per cent in November to 22,860 units; year-to-date figures were down 5 per cent to 265,959. Truck registrations declined by 13.7 per cent to 3,885 units in the month, but the rolling year figure is up 12.6 per cent to 46,734 units.
November was also a bad month for van sales, with registrations down by 16.4 per cent to 18,975 units. Sales for the January-November period were down 7.4 per cent, with 223,836 registrations.
“November saw van and truck volumes fall, compounding the 5 per cent drop in the market for the year-to-date,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT Chief Executive. “This year has seen the van market re-adjust after bouncing back from recession, while truck volumes have been steady. We look forward to next year where greater stability should see the van market return to slow, but steady growth.”
