Firestone app reaches 10,000 downloads
Firestone’s agricultural Tyre Pressure Calculator app for iPhone has reportedly stormed to 10,000 downloads, confirming demand from farmers for this information to reduce soil compaction and maximise successful germination.
The app simply recommends tyre pressure based upon tyre size and load. In the past tyre manufacturers would typically refer farmers to technical data books, which unsurprisingly they didn’t have. Now the app is available for free to smart phone users, which covers around two thirds of farmers, providing the information when it is most needed.
To demonstrate the importance of using the correct tyre size and pressure, Firestone recently conducted a test in collaboration with John Deere, to accurately measure working time and fuel consumption, both on the road and in the field. The results clearly demonstrated that choosing the right tyres based on the most severe application and pressure maintenance. Firestone’s latest generation Performer and Maxi Traction tyres will be fitted across the John Deere 6M series tractor range maximising the soil compaction and fuel saving benefits.
Firestone’s Barry Coleman commented: “Our aim is to provide farmers with right information in a timely manner so they can maximise their tyre life and minimise damage to the soil structure. The combination of our low compaction products and readily available technical information through the app will help us to achieve this. The success of the app simply confirms that we are in line with our customers thinking”.
