Design award for Thule Easy-fit Snow Chains
Last October, Thule Easy-fit Snow Chains achieved a Guinness World Record as 12 people of different ages mounted Thule Easy-fit on 81 wheels in less than 1 minute. This means that it takes less than 12 seconds to mount a snow chain.
Now, Thule Easy-fit has also won the iF Product Design Award. The snow chains have been assessed by the jury criteria of design, finish, material and innovation level, as well as functionality, ergonomics and safety.
Commented Fredrik Erlandsson, Thule Group Senior Vice President Communications: “All of us at the Thule Group are happy and proud today. Thule Easy-fit has taken the functionality of snow chains and the mounting of snow chains in particular, to a new level. The iF Product Design Award verifies that we have succeeded in making a product which is often difficult to handle into something very simple and attractive.”
The iF Product Design Award covers all areas of industrial design in product development, and since 1953 it has been an internationally recognized design prize in the whole world that awards outstanding and innovative design. In competition with more than 3,000 entries, Thule won with Thule Easy-fit in the Transport Design category.
Fredrik Erlandsson again: “The name really says everything about Thule Easy-fit. It has never been such a quick job to fit snow chains, without the need for physical power and chains that can be tightened using your foot. That it can be done simply and quickly is more important in difficult weather conditions, which you are often facing when it is time, to use your snow chains.”
