Survey rates motorcycle franchises
KTM, Triumph and Harley Davidson rate as top motorcycle franchises according to the Motorcycle Retailers' Association (MRA) Motorcycle Dealer Attitude Survey Autumn 2012 results.
However motorcycle dealers are becoming concerned about the profitability of their dealership as market conditions remain difficult and dealer/manufacturer relationships begin to strain.
Sue Robinson, director of the Motorcycle Retailers Association, commented: “With motorcycle dealers contending with flat-lining sales and falling margins it is no real surprise to see a slight decline in values in the Autumn survey.
“During 2012 sales of lower value 125cc motorcycles increased while sales of larger, more profitable motorcycles declined, therefore stock funding of these larger motorcycles is causing financial pressure for a lot of dealers.
“Dealers who have good communication channels with their manufacturer tend to give higher ratings in the survey. It is important to remember that motorcycle dealers have the same aims and aspirations as the motorcycle manufacturers. Both want to sell more motorcycles and improve profitably.”
