Eurotire expands leadership in Mexico
OTR tyre firm Eurotire has appointed Courtland Acosta as its business development manager in Mexico and Central America. The move reflects the company's commitment to expansion throughout Mexico and Central America, answering the region’s growing interest in Eurotire’s offerings. In his new role, Acosta will assist regional manager, Tom Sawyer, to further develop the business there and to support the future opening of a new sales office.
“Escalating world demand for precious metals—especially gold, silver and copper— and coal has fuelled accelerated production in existing mines and the opening of new ones in the region. As a result, the need for mining equipment and support has also increased,” said Sawyer. “Mining in Mexico and Central America presents limitless opportunity.”
“When we first came to Mexico 18 months ago,” continued Sawyer. “The Eurotire name was relatively unknown. Now we’re receiving repeat sales—and are even the tyre of choice in some mines—based on the superior performance of our tires and our full-service approach in supporting clients. This is extremely gratifying, and I’m optimistic of our future in the region, especially with Courtland’s expertise to help lead this effort.”
Acosta brings with him over 30 years of global experience in mining, fleet management and heavy civil construction. Originally a master heavy-duty mechanic and welder has received extensive training on OTR tyre management and equipment performance monitoring throughout his career. In recent years, Acosta oversaw major mine operations for Goldcorp, Inc. for their San Luis Potosi, Mexico project; Arizona’s Pinto Valley for BHP Billiton; and New Jersey’s Tilcon site for Oldcastle Materials Group, with an emphasis on OTR tyre management.
