Dunlop Aircraft Tyres Appoints CEO
Dunlop Aircraft Tyres has appointed Mike Askew as chief executive officer. He joins the firm from APPH Group, a company that designs and manufactures hydraulic systems and landing gears for commercial and military aircraft. Askew had been managing director at APPH for almost three years and before that he held senior positions at Doncasters and GKN Westland Helicopters.
At the same time Dunlop Aircraft Tyres’ chairman and managing director, Ian Edmondson, is appointed deputy chairman of the group’s holding company, Castle Equity Limited. Since Ian joined Dunlop Aircraft Tyres in 2007, the company’s annual turnover has doubled to over £40 million and the firm has successfully expanded its production capability both in the UK and overseas, including the opening of a distribution and retreading facility in China.
“Ian’s strategy of geographic expansion and product development has been tremendously successful,” said Mike Askew. “I look forward to using my experience and working to build on these achievements at this exciting time for the company.”
Ian Edmondson added: “Apart from the company’s business success, from a personal perspective being at the helm during our very special centenary year in 2010 and winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise last year stand out as two highlights during my term of office. The company, through the efforts of all its employees, is achieving so much and I look forward to its continuing success under Mike’s leadership.”
