Ambulance service prepares for winter
The East Midlands Ambulance Service is to spend £80,000 on 1,000 new winter tyres to try to avoid being caught out by plummeting temperatures this season, reports the Skegness Standard.
It’s the second year running East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust has fitted the seasonal tyres to its fleet in a bid to try to minimise disruption to its service in the extreme weather.
In total 306 ambulances and two-wheel drive fast response vehicles will be fitted. Existing tyres will be checked and stored until spring.
