Vortex: New premises, new products
Despite the name, there is no way that Vortex Exhaust Technology Ltd is getting sucked down by the negative economic environment. On the contrary, according to the Grays, Essex-based business, things have moved quickly since the company relocated from their old premises at the end of 2011. The company can now be found in a much bigger and brighter unit on the Globe Industrial estate in Grays. Having spent the last year organise things at the new facility managing director Barry Mead reports that he is looking forward to the next chapter in the company’s business development:
“We have had tremendous success since the move as we have been more able to focus on getting our message across and developing sales for our growing band of dealers. This time last year we had 12 dealers. Today we stand at 19 across the UK. With the new building we have a showcase facility for customers and dealers to see how we operate.”
The company has also received accreditation according to the internationally recognised ISO 9001 standard.
Patented technology
The product range has been revamped too and Vortex now caters for all sectors of the UK exhaust market. This includes cars, four wheel drives, vans, pick ups, trucks, buses and marine motors. Motorbike exhausts are said to be under development. What’s different about Vortex is the fact that all the systems benefit from their patented design. This features an interior that essentially draws exhaust gas out of the system at a faster rate than conventional designs can achieve – hence the Vortex name. This reportedly lowers back pressure and improves power – both torque and BHP. The cleaner combustion is also said to have emissions reducing as well as fuel saving benefits.
Ultimately Vortex is aiming to re-energise the replacement exhaust market with its system. As far as the show itself was concerned Company representatives reported that Brityrex hosted a number of meetings with major tyre retailers who have expressed an interest in the company’s concept.
