UK September car sales "exceeded expectations"
"The increase in retail car sales in September exceeded expectations" said Sue Robinson, Director of the RMI National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) which represents franchised car and commercial vehicle retailers across the UK, commenting on the SMMT's new car registration figures.
New car sales figures, released today, show month on month sales were up 8.2 per cent per cent compared to September last year. Private registrations showed one of the best monthly increases in the past two years, up 14.2 per cent in March.
Robinson continued: “September is typically a strong month for new car registrations with the September plate change boosting sales. There are also a number of great retail offers and finance packages currently available to consumers which are tempting people into show rooms and boosting sales. The strong increase in private registrations shows some signs of economic recovery with consumers feeling confident enough to commit to purchasing a brand new car.”
