Nokian introduces Noktop Hakkapeliitta F winter trailer tread

Nokian has unveiled a new addition to its Noktop Hakkapeliitta line with a product it calls the market’s first winter tread for wide trailer tyres. The Noktop Hakkapeliitta F is designed particularly for commercial vehicles with low trailers in international operation especially in Nordic conditions. The tread is available for tyre casings in size 445/45R19.5.

Nokian says the Noktop Hakkapeliitta  F delivers improved grip under any conditions, using its Spiral Sipe System technology. The tyre’s dense siping helps to avoid the formation of “teeth” that is typical of block patterns, making tread wear very even, thereby increasing the usable mileage of the tyre. The tread has a dense pattern and strong zigzag grooves, giving it the numerous sharp edges required for grip particularly on snow and ice. Grip in wet and slushy conditions is further improved by wide, more efficiently self-cleaning grooves, says Nokian Truck Tyres Product Development manager Teppo Siltanen.

Nokian’s tread compound also promotes grip and extreme wear resistance. It also generates less heat, which results in lower rolling resistance. Therefore, Nokian says the Noktop Hakkapeliitta F tread can help save on both operating and environmental costs. It is
 
The tyre also allows users to monitor wear easily using Nokian’s Driving Safety Indicator, helping to increase safety. Percentage marks on the centre surface of the tyre indicate how much of the main groove depth remains on the tread. The numbers wear together with the tyre, making it easy to monitor the actual condition of the tyre. It also incorporates the Winter Safety Indicator, a snowflake symbol that wears with the tread, showing when the tyre is at its best for use in winter conditions.
