Nitto clocks up 2 million Facebook fans
Facebook has just announced that its membership has passed the one billion mark. A smaller, but nevertheless significant, milestone has also been reached by Nitto Tire – on 8 October the company announced that two million Facebook users are now fans of its facebook.com/nittotire page.
“We are thrilled to reach this social media milestone and prove our leadership in the digital and content marketing space,” said Tomo Mizutani, president of Nitto Tire U.S.A. “We are so thankful for our loyal fans and are constantly striving to improve our products and celebrate our customers to show our appreciation.”
Nitto more than doubled its Facebook fan base in less than a year, having garnered its first million fans in December 2011. In terms of Facebook fans, Nitto says that it not only surpasses other tyre companies, but also supersedes car manufacturers such as Ford, Toyota and Nissan and behind the likes of Honda and Mercedes Benz. “The unparalleled achievement confirms Nitto’s tremendous popularity among enthusiasts, as well as the company’s commitment to utilising Facebook as a fan engagement tool,” stated the company in a press release.
As a ‘thank you’ to its 2 million fans, Nitto has unveiled a celebratory video that highlights some of the most exciting and engaging topics discussed on its fan page. The tyre maker has also launched a new Facebook fan appreciation contest.
