Maxxis, Japspeed to appear at Top Gear Live 2012
Tyre manufacturer Maxxis will be completing a programme of activities at this year’s Top Gear Live, at Birmingham’s NEC from October 25-28, where Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond and their racing driver colleague, The Stig, will be joined by guest drivers and awe inspiring vehicles in the Live Action Arena and Track. Maxxis will seek to raise its profile with a stand in the automotive exhibition. The company says the stand is designed to highlight its strength in depth in car and motorcycle tyres. Also, the ubiquitous Maxxis Babes will be on hand to mingle with fans and pose for photos.
Maxxis will also be represented by Team Japspeed, the drift outfit it sponsors in the Maxxis British Drift Championship – the UK’s premier drift series, for which it is also title sponsor and official partner. After winning the European Drift Championship in 2007, Team Japspeed went on to the win the British Drift Championship driver’s title in 2009 and the team event competition and constructor’s honours in 2011. Its drivers have achieved 39 podium finishes in competitions both at home and abroad during the past five years.
After clinching the Super Pro class driver’s championship once more and retaining the constructors’ title this season, Team Japspeed will be showcasing its drivers’ skills, alongside the grip and endurance of the Maxxis MAZ1 Drift tyre in a competition the company anticipates will get the crowd on its feet.
Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni in the Maxxis-sponsored Subaru Impreza, fitted with a 2.5 Toyota 1JZ engine producing 470bhp, will face team mate Shane Lynch in the Monster Energy-liveried Nissan Silvia V8 S15 in a show that will be staged every day in the Live Action Arena and Track.
