Employees fear Goodyear plant slowdown means layoffs
Goodyear is reducing production at its Fayetteville plant in the US for the second time in three months, reports Tire Review. The decision to decrease production is describes as a measure to “align production with inventory” in the slow North American tyre market.
In the absence of specific details on the slowdown plant, rumours have circulated amongst the plant’s 2,800 employees. Some think that talk of slowdowns is just the thin edge of the wedge. “There have been rumours about possible buy-outs, layoffs, reduced shift hours and a reduction in tyre production for weeks among employees,” Tire Review quoted local newspaper the Fayetteville Observer as saying.
