Bridgestone winter PCR, SUV tyres prevail in ADAC test
Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM-80 was the clear winner of German automobile club ADAC, TCS and ÖAMTC’s new SUV/CUV winter tyre tests (size 215/65 R16 on a Volkswagen Tiguan), while its Blizzak LM-32 received the association’s highest snow ranking. The passenger car tyre was awarded AutoBild’s highest winter rating, published in early October.
The Blizzak LM-80 was labelled “very recommendable” by the ADAC, awarding the tyre top grades for fuel consumption and ice performance, with very good ratings for wet and snow braking. The tyre also triumphed in preceding ACE (Auto Club Europe) and GTÜ (German Association for Technical Inspection) winter tyre tests.
The performance of Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM-32 on snow, wet and dry was lauded in the AutoBild winter tyre test, with the tyre becoming one of only three brands out of 42 tested to receive the highest rating of “very recommendable” for overall performance. “Blizzak LM-32 shows excellent handling and short braking distances in all conditions with good aquaplaning performance, high durability and good comfort,” AutoBild said. The rating follows the ADAC, TCS and ÖAMTC endorsement of the tyre. It was tested in size 205/55 R16 on a Skoda Octavia and beating 10 winter tyre rival brands also tested.
