Bibendum hits the road
To celebrate 10 years of the Performance and Responsibility Michelin programme (PRM), the Michelin Man is embarking on his first official tour to pay a special visit to some of the projects the tyre manufacturer has helped over the past decade.
As part of the tour, the Michelin Man – or Bibendum as he is known – will be stopping off at different locations across the UK to see how a number of key projects are getting on.
The trip will begin with a pit stop in Ballymena on Friday 19 October to visit children and staff at Stepping Stones Playgroup in Ahoghill. In March this year, four employees from Michelin’s Ballymena factory restored the nursery’s playground by giving the seating area and equipment a fresh lick of paint. The team also planted an array of flowers and shrubs to brighten up the area.
Eric Le Corre, managing director of Michelin Tyre PLC, said: “Ever since Michelin was established, the company has invested significant time and money in a variety of projects that benefit local communities. Whether we helped them last year or 10 years ago, we’re still keen to show our support and the tour is a fantastic way for us to do this.”
Michelin’s CSR charter, known as PRM, was put in place to provide a more strategic approach to the company’s CSR activity. Michelin has supported many worthwhile projects in and around its manufacturing operations in Ballymena, Dundee and Stoke-On-Trent.
