Toyo’s Snowprox S953 leads winter range
Toyo’s range of winter tyres is designed to tackle all wintry driving conditions, aiming to increase drivers’ safety in more conditions than just the handful of snowy days (or weeks) in the UK. Toyo stresses that its winter tyres do not require snow to appreciate the benefits they offer. Toyo identifies slush, ice, mud and cold December downpours as conditions in which the tyres will “prove their worth in keeping drivers on the move”. The company’s computer-optimised tread designs come in a wide variety of sizes to suit all vehicles, from small compact cars to ultra high performance models to 4×4’s and SUV’s.
The Snowprox S953 is Toyo’s high performance winter tyre. Available in aspect ratios from 60 down to 40 series and in 15” to 18”, the Snowprox S953 has been developed to offer improved braking and ride comfort in wet and dry conditions. Toyo has adopted a sporty directional tread pattern combined with additional functional elements of the tread, providing an improved winter tyre for motorway speed use, stable braking and superior handling. The silica compound further enhances the tyres performance in snowy and wet weather.
The Snowprox S952 was developed to drive safely even without snow, and Toyo says the Snowprox outperforms normal tyres when temperatures are cold. With a functional and asymmetric tread pattern and its silica-rich rubber compound, Toyo says its Snowprox S952 provides firm ground contact and holding. It is available in a range of sizes from 15” to 18”.
The Snowprox S942 is an asymmetrical tyre designed for optimum performance in all kinds of wintry road conditions from wet and slippery to snow and ice. The pattern includes high density sipes and a silica-reinforced compound to increase traction, braking and high speed stability on both wet and snowy roads. The wide straight centre rib also enhances dry handling and braking control. Snowprox S942 is available in a range of sizes from 13” to 16”.
The Snowprox S930 is available in a range of 80-series, making it Toyo’s winter tyre for smaller hatchbacks and saloons, in sizes from 12” to 14”. Toyo says its tread pattern has been designed to increase grip and traction in rain or snow, alongside low noise levels and low rolling resistance for improved fuel economy.
The Open Country W/T is Toyo’s latest winter 4×4 tyre. Its asymmetric tread pattern gives the tyre firm ground contact resulting in both improved handling and traction on slippery roads. The silica based compounds in the tread also offer enhanced braking on wet roads and work particularly well on vehicles equipped with ABS, Toyo says. Sizes range from 15” to 20”.
