Stapleton’s adds labelling functionality to ProfitLink
Stapleton’s became the tyre distribution industry’s first to launch an online ordering system more than a decade ago. More recently the company upgraded this and now the recently revamped ProfitLink2 reportedly remains a leader in the field, putting the leading distributor’s nationwide 1,200,000 units of tyre stocks at its retail customers’ fingertips. The latest development relates to the tyre labelling legislation that will take effect shortly after this article is published in print at the back end of October.
Stapleton’s reports that, since the EU said it would be a legal requirement to show proper energy labelling on all new passenger car and truck tyres sold after 1 November, it has worked to create a system that provides its ProfitLink customers with the necessary information for every one of their profiled SKU’s. Where applicable, all tyre label information will be available to view on screen and/or download. The user-friendly design will allow users to filter each size by label characteristic and sort by grade, for example users will only need two clicks to identify all “A” rated “Wet Grip” products available in any particular size, a functionality that Stapleton’s head of range planning and marketing Stephen Childs sees as a real benefit:
“Tyre Labelling is a monumental milestone in the industry’s history and we have prepared ourselves to support our customers in every facet of their business. ProfitLink continues to evolve and has become more than just an online ordering system. We see e-commerce as a natural extension of the ‘Working for the Customer’ philosophy that’s at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud of the fact that Stapleton’s were the first in the industry to embrace the Internet as a powerful customer service tool – and ten years on we’re still adding innovations that genuinely give our customers the edge, which is vital is today’s highly competitive market.”
ProfitLink2 plugs the retailer directly into 14 warehouses and a 300-strong delivery fleet offering twice-daily, same-day and next-day deliveries – depending on location. But what arguably of most value to the retailer is in the way its latest features make it mesh with their own operation. Instant access to comprehensive purchase records assists with building effective future strategies on an accurate view of past performance, for example. Furthermore, the wealth of information on the features and benefits of tyres from the widest range available in the UK means they can offer an expert, informed answer to every customer question imaginable – whether they’re looking at premium brands or Stapleton’s impressive range of private brands Maxxis, Matador, Nexen, Primewell and Prestivo. Finally, perhaps most important of all is the way ProfitLink2 adds speed and precision to the retailer’s own customer offering.
“We’re keenly aware that our customers need on-the-spot answers to their own customers’ enquiries if they’re to secure a sale every time – and that’s where ProfitLink2 really comes into its own as a proven business tool,” Stephen Childs added.
