Patrick McLoughlin new transport secretary
Patrick McLoughlin has been named Transport Secretary, replacing Justine Greening. As Conservative MP for Derbyshire Dales, McLoughlin was formerly chief whip and parliamentary secretary to the treasury.
Greening – who recently voiced her criticism of plans for a third runway at Heathrow Airport – had been Transport Secretary for just 326 days. But, according to a tweet posted by Channel 4 political correspondent Michael Crick, this is not briefest stay in this post. That was Tom King who only held this position for four months.
