Michelin host venue for WWCOTY award at Paris show
Michelin’s stand at the Paris Motor Show is the chosen venue for tomorrow’s Women's World Car of the Year awards ceremony. Following the tyre maker’s press conference at 5.30pm, eight of the 21 Eight of the 21 judges in who chose this year’s top cars will be on hand to present the supreme award trophy to Range Rover executives.
This year’s trophy comes from New Zealand and depicts a koru, or New Zealand native fern, carved in native timber by master carver Hugh McKechnie. The appropriate words have been inlaid with paua, a native New Zealand shell.
The women motoring writers from 12 countries voted the Range Rover Evoque as the supreme award winner this year and winner of the Luxury Car category. Other category winners were BMW 3 Series (Family Car) Porsche 911 (Sports Car) Honda Civic (Economy Car). These motor companies and other finalists in the awards will receive certificates in Paris, designed by Peartree Studios in the UK, acknowledging their success.
New Zealander Sandy Myhre, CEO of Women’s World Car of the Year Ltd, says the support of Michelin at the Paris Show is “utterly invaluable” and recognises the value of women motoring writers within the industry and as representatives of women as motorists.
