Maxxis continues to develop winter tyre range
Maxxis’ range of winter tyres is designed to cope with conditions across Europe, where the manufacturer says they have “proved their reliability”. Designed to disperse snow and deliver improved grip, Maxxis has developed its winter weather tyres with Virtual Intelligent Prototyping technology, engineering them to cope with the most extreme temperatures and slippery surfaces. The range currently includes the MA-PW, the MA-W1, MA-W2 and MA-SPW Wintermaxx range tyres, and the MA-SW Victra Snow tyres.
Manufactured from an advanced soft tread compound, a unidirectional zigzag design in the shoulder area and high density S-type sipes, the MA-PW is designed to deliver improved grip and traction on snow along with wet and straight-line stability. Additional deep V-grooves are included to expel water more efficiently, improving wet weather handling. The tread pattern is made to reduce noise, with a pitch sequence is designed for a very quiet ride.
Maxxis says its “high performance winter tyre”, the MA-W1 Wintermaxx, also combines improved traction with a quiet ride. The unidirectional zigzag tread design, multiple grooves and optimised contact footprint disperse water and remove snow to improve overall performance on wet roads, especially under braking.
Featuring a unique symmetrical zigzag tread for enhanced traction, especially in snow, the MA-W2 Wintermaxx radial is intended for vans travelling in the most severe winter weather. Multiple biting edges improve stability in icy conditions and enhance braking, water dispersal and snow removal without, Maxxis says, sacrificing dry weather performance.
The third Wintermaxx tyre is the studdable MA-SPW winter tyre, which has zigzag tread blocks for enhanced traction in snowy conditions. It also has high density S-type tread siping for increased water dispersal. The stud pins are placed to improve handling and braking performance on icy roads, while the optimised pitch arrangement is designed to deliver a comfortable, quiet ride.
Finally, the MA-SW Victra Snow is a unidirectional snow terrain tyre developed specifically for the 4×4 market. It benefits from improved road contact and overall performance due to wider tread grooves that extend into the shoulder area. The zigzag tread block arrangement and high-density lateral sipes work towards improving grip and traction on snowy terrain while also helping to maximise steering stability, Maxxis says.
