Conti employees running for charity
Continental’s employees are on the run – for a good cause. During ContiRunningWeek 2012, which is now underway, around 18,000 Continental employees at 90 sites will set off on runs or walks to raise money for charity. A number of local fundraising activities have been arranged, and Continental Corporation will donate the proceeds from its activities to Welthungerhilfe, a German charity that combats hunger and health issues around the globe.
”ContiRunningDay 2008 was already a huge success. Continental employees in 20 countries around the world took part in the sports event – starting off in Asia, then in Europe and Africa, and finally in America. The running event has helped to strengthen our employees’ team spirit and enabled them to form even closer bonds with each other – all around the globe. We want to take this to the next level now,” said Elke Strathmann, Continental Executive Board member for human resources.
”Sport creates new networks that help to transcend hierarchies and overcome barriers. That is why my colleagues on the Executive Board actively support ContiRunningWeek 2012,” Strathmann added, explaining the motivation behind the company’s commitment. As a Continental-wide sports event, ContiRunningWeek 2012 will act as a stepping stone to the ContiTeamCup, the company’s internal football world cup, which has been staged alongside the FIFA World Cup since 2006.
