Brityrex to feature dedicated PCR retreading pavilion
Passenger car tyre retreading will have its own exhibition area at October’s Brityrex International show, with the announcement of a dedicated Retreading Pavilion. The Pavilion’s aim is to showcase the latest and best in car retreading, which has declined in terms of both UK manufacturing and market share in recent years.
“For some years it has been noticeable that the demand for passenger retreading in the UK outstrips the supply and that there is an opportunity for retreaders across Europe to penetrate the market,” says pavilion sponsor David Wilson. “With the price of rubber remaining high and with consumers continuing to remain aware of environmental issues, passenger retreads offer an alternative marketing argument for forward-looking tyre retailers. While it is unlikely that the passenger retread market will return to the volume it enjoyed during its heyday in the 1990s, I’m convinced the sector offers an interesting and profitable niche market for those willing to commit to it.”
Among those companies that have already taken advantage of the concept is Italian retreader Malatesta Pneumatici (Stand 34), a company with more that six decades’ involvement in the market. “Brityrex is an important opportunity for us to demonstrate the range and quality of our products to buyers and stockists in the UK,” commented company spokesman Matteo Malatesta. “Retreads are obviously a major market in the UK commercial sector but we are also confident that demand exists for quality, competitively priced retreads for passenger car applications, which we cover with an extensive range that includes summer and winter patterns and run-flats.”
The full Malatesta retread range includes products for car tyres up to 17-inch rim diameter and patterns for summer, winter and run-flat applications; off-road and racing tyres; light-van, medium and heavy truck; agriculture trailer tyres in 19.5-inch and 22.5-inch rims; solid tires for fork lift, exclusive pre-cured bead to bead process. A new line of cross and rallying products completes the line-up. Malatesta products are covered by quality standards including ECE 108R, ECE109 R, and UNI EN ISO 9002.
Other suppliers confirmed for the Retread Pavilion include Spanish retreader
Insa Turbo and Portugal’s Recauchutagem Nortenha S.A.
Car tyre retreading will also be represented in the main body of the Brityrex exhibition hall by Polish manufacturer Profil, which specialises in passenger car tyre retreading and produces and sells retreaded tyres for all types of consumer vehicles, including summer and winter car tyres, delivery tyres and off-road tyres. The company offers numerous tread patterns and says its retreads are every bit as durable as new tyres. The company offers retreaded tyres from 13 to 18-inches – the most popular sizes in the market. Profil says it uses the highest quality products from well-established producers of rubber compounds and foreign tyre providers.
A further passenger car tyre retreader at Brityrex is Entertyres. Passenger car tyre retreading has become a rarity in the UK, and in recent years Entertyres UK Ltd has been the only company offering these products here. Entertyres says it continues to achieve high sales targets and has become a trusted and long-term supplier for many tyre companies throughout the UK. At this year’s Brityrex, Entertyres will be located on stand 50C and will exhibit its summer and winter retreaded car tyre ranges in a number of popular 13 to 17-inch sizes, plus commercial van tyres.
