UK bus and coach registrations up for 10th month running
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that coach and bus registrations for July were up – the 10th consecutive month in which the figures rose.
The overall bus and coach market rose 90.2 per cent to 622 registrations in July, and 65 per cent over the first seven months. The purpose-built bus and coach sector rose 47.1 per cent in the month and 45.8 per cent for the year-to-date. Converted bus registrations were up 185.3 per cent in July and 88.2 per cent for the January to July period.
“The UK bus and coach market continues to rebound strongly from the extremely difficult market we saw a year ago. In July, registrations were up 90 per cent, the 10th consecutive month of growth and a steady trend that has seen registrations in the sector grow more than 40 per cent over the period,” said Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive. “Operators and manufacturers will be keeping a close eye on the economic stability of the Eurozone, but right now the sector is robust and confident.”
