Project dragon ready – official opening for Goodyear’s new China plant
A formal opening ceremony for Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s Pulandian plant in China was held on 15 August. Around 700 guests attended the celebration, including government officials and president of Goodyear’s Asia Pacific business, Dan Smytka. During a speech, company chairman and CEO Richard Kramer declared the factory’s commissioning to be of “extraordinary significance” to Goodyear.
The plant’s completion in 2011 and official opening marks the end of the road for Goodyear’s Dalian plant, which entered service in 1994, a year after the tyre maker established its first office in China. A lack of vacant land has made further expansion in Dalian impossible, and all operations there will be transferred to the Pulandian facility by the end of this year.
