Pirelli confirms £20 million investment in Carlisle

Pirelli has confirmed that it is investing a total of £20 million in its Carlisle tyre production factory. As Tyres & Accessories reported following a visit last month, the money is being invested in research and development as well as factory upgrades. According to company representatives, of the £20 million total, £11.4 million is being spent on research and development and £9 million on machinery upgrades.

The £20 million investment is expected to secure the 850 jobs Pirelli maintains in Carlisle and 350 at its operations in Burton as well as create around 40 additional positions.
