Michelin to broaden range manufactured in Russia
According to Thierry Chiche, Michelin’s senior vice-president Russia & CIS, the tyre maker plans to invest 35 million euros this year developing facilities within the country. Thierry shared this news during the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2012, which began yesterday, and said the funds would primarily go towards expanding the product portfolio manufactured at Michelin’s Davydovo factory near Moscow.
At present the factory produces up to 2 million Michelin and BFGoodrich branded summer and winter consumer tyres per annum in 13 to 16-inch sizes. A truck tyre retreading plant has also operated in Davydovo since April 2011.
In addition to widening the range products made at the Davydovo factory, Russian news service Interfax reported Thierry as saying Michelin will invest in a logistics base in Russia and the CIS; further details about this project are not known at this time.
During the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2012, Michelin will debut its Michelin X-Ice 3 in Russia and showcase additions to the company’s Pilot Alpin 4, Latitude Alpin 2 and Primacy 3 ranges.
