Michelin marks 10 years of PRM
Michelin Tyre PLC is celebrating 10 years of its Performance and Responsibility Michelin (PRM) programme, the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility charter. In 2002, the company developed the PRM framework to provide a more strategic approach to the efforts it was already making to improve the support it provides to employees, communities and the environment.
As part of this framework, Michelin has supported many worthwhile projects in and around the areas surrounding its manufacturing operations in Stoke-On-Trent, Dundee and Ballymena through a range of charitable donations and employee engagement initiatives. From helping to fund local businesses through its Michelin Development initiative, to setting up road safety campaigns and supporting local charities, Michelin has invested considerable time and money in supporting a variety of projects.
Eric Le Corre, managing director of Michelin Tyre PLC, said: “As a UK company, it is our responsibility to ensure that we not only protect our local communities, but that we are actively enhancing them to improve the quality of lives for local people.
“Ever since the Michelin Group was founded in the late 1880s, the company has sought to play an active role in the communities in which we operate. Ten years ago, we created and implemented our PRM strategy to provide real and worthwhile support to local people, whether it’s through development and training programmes, or through cultural and social activities.
“Today, we remain more committed than ever to supporting programmes that help nurture creativity and enhance learning, reduce the negative impact of activities on the environment and enrich the quality of life for individuals. We will continue to raise the bar when it comes to our PRM activities and we already have a lot of exciting initiatives planned to help us celebrate our ten years of PRM with our local communities.”
