Michelin claims longevity as central to funeral fleet’s growing custom

The UK’s leading funeral director is now fitting Michelin tyres to 80 per cent of its vehicles because of the longevity demonstrated by the manufacturer’s extensive range of extra load tyres. Michelin reports that the Co-operative Funeralcare, which operates a fleet of 1,500 vehicles, has more than doubled the Michelin share of business on its fleet over the last five years from 30 per cent to 80 per cent.

“We use a range of large, heavy vehicles that require quality, durable tyres to withstand the load,” commented Terry Jarvis, head of transport for The Co-operative Funeralcare. “Michelin provides our fleet with high performance premium tyres and has a great range of sizes in the extra load category, which we use a lot.

“We have certainly noticed the longevity benefits that the Michelin tyres provide, and using tyres which last longer not only saves money in the long-run because we are replacing fewer tyres, but is also more eco-friendly. Over the past five years we have been getting good wear out of the Michelin tyres, which is why we are now fitting the majority of our fleet with them.”

The Co-operative Funeralcare runs more than 880 funeral homes across the UK, and its fleet runs on a mix of Michelin tyres, including Energy Saver and Primacy, with sizes ranging from 15 inches to 19 inches. “Michelin appreciates that each business is unique and therefore we strive to meet each fleet’s individual requirements with our tyres,” said Andrew Guile, key account manager at Michelin. “The Co-operative Funeralcare has fitted Michelin tyres for some time now and we are pleased the relationship between our two companies continues to develop.”
