Haulier confident ATS Euromaster tyre policy will reduce costs
East Yorkshire-based haulier HB Holt & Sons has appointed ATS Euromaster tyre and tyre service provider for its fleet of 50 trucks and 74 trailers. The agreement will see Michelin group-manufactured Taurus tyres fitted, as wear dictates, backed up by 24/7 access to emergency roadside assistance.
The haulier previously sourced tyres from independent tyre dealers. This meant that, says ATS Euromaster, in the event of a tyre failure away from base the haulier had to locate a supplier. This often meant varying brand availability and being charged the highest retail prices, ATS Euromaster adds.
“Our previous supplier offered good local support, but we were left at the mercy of tyre dealers charging us significant sums if we ran into problems outside Yorkshire,” said Eddie Holt, managing director of HB Holt & Sons. “When you are stuck at the roadside, miles from home and needing only one tyre, you’re not in the best position to secure the most competitive deal. You are also restricted to fitting whatever brand of tyre that dealer has on the shelf.”
Under the agreement, the haulier will pay according to a national pricing structure, and the ATS Euromaster-exclusive Taurus brand is stocked in all of the company’s truck centres throughout the UK. “Punctures are a fact of life when you have a fleet collectively covering more than six million kilometres a year,” Holt added. “But knowing precisely what we’ll pay in the event of a tyre failure, no matter where our vehicle is, is a major benefit. We’ll be putting ATS Euromaster to the test over the coming months and monitoring our tyre expenditure closely. We’re confident this new policy will help to reduce running costs and make our fleet even more efficient.”
