Alliance, Titan show latest releases at US farm show
Agricultural customers in the US had the chance to get up close to Titan Tire and Alliance Tire Group’s latest offerings at the Farm Progress 2012 Show in Iowa this week, reports Tire Review. New on the scene from ATG are the Galaxy Muddy Buddy, the Alliance 354 Radial R1-W in increased flexion size IF380/90R46, and the Alliance 354 in increased flexion size IF480/80R50; Titan displayed the Goodyear IF Ultra Sprayer and the Goodyear IF DT830.
“With bigger, faster equipment and increasing awareness of the damage that can be caused by soil compaction, we’re seeing a clear demand for increased flexion, or IF, tyres across the country and around the world,” said Seth Walters, vice president of marketing and supply chain at Alliance. “We’ve introduced the two sizes that can put the benefits of IF onto the greatest number of farms – the IF480/80R50 that fits the rear wheel position on a wide variety of high-horsepower tractors, and the IF380/90R46 row crop size that fits tractors and sprayers.”
The Alliance IF tyres feature more lugs, oriented at a 45-degree angle, for “excellent field performance and great roadability,” the company claims. The lugs are 20 per cent deeper than standard R1 tread for traction and service life, and feature a “rugged compound that complements the durable nylon casing and rigid belts to create a tough, high-performance tyre.”
The skid-steer Muddy Buddy has sharp shoulders that “provide extra grip in soft or slick conditions, and the shallow lug angle delivers better traction and more surface area,” Alliance said. “Deep tread and durable bead construction make the Muddy Buddy a rugged, long-lasting tool for farmers and ranchers.”
Titan adds IF radial pair to Goodyear range
Titan Tire used the show to unveil a pair of increased flexion Goodyear-brand tyres. New are the Goodyear IF Ultra Sprayer and the Goodyear IF DT830, both of which, Titan said, offer greater sidewall flexibility than a standard radial, allowing 20 per cent greater loads at the same inflation pressure as a standard radial or the same load with 20 per cent lower inflation pressures.
“IF technology has been in use in Europe for the past few years simply because they don’t use duals, but as equipment keeps getting larger and faster, we believe IF technology will catch on in the US – particularly for sprayers,” said Scott Sloan, Titan ag product manager. “We have been field-testing our IF technology for the past couple years with great results.”
The Goodyear IF DT830, currently available in sizes IF800/55R46 and IF900/50R46, features a low sidewall profile, and 45-degree lugs that are 25 per cent deeper than standard R-1 tyres. The Goodyear IF Ultra Sprayer is available in seven sizes ranging from IF320/90R46 to IF380/105R50, and is designed with added lug bracing and increased lug surface.
