Alba Diagnostics braking expertise delivered
Scottish braking firm Alba Diagnostics was established in 1991, designing and manufacturing professional garage equipment. Developing from a two-person operation, Alba became the manufacturer of what it says is the world's number one brake fluid tester. The company has recently been talking up the benefits of offering customers free brake fluid checks using the Alba Diagnostics brake fluid tester. This is a boiling point tester; the only approved way to test brake fluid.
Arguing its case, Alba reasons: “The customer gets a free safety health-check on their brake fluid and if it’s OK – no cost to them. If it’s below standard, then the garage gets the opportunity to sell a brake fluid change and possibly other related brake-work. The customer still has the right to refuse, but what customer is going to refuse brake-safety work if it’s explained to them properly?”
The opportunity to upgrade a service offering in garages is key to Alba’s argument, and it says its ALB560 pressure brake bleeder is the UK’s market-leader for this job. Pressure bleeding is the method approved by the vehicle and brake manufacturers. ALB560 is designed for one-man operation and Alba claims it allows job completion in approximately 15 minutes.
The company says that using its brake fluid testing equipment means that garages can recover their cost within weeks. “You have quality UK-manufactured products approved by the major brake and brake fluid companies and your customer sees you offering them something for nothing at the start of their service,” the company says.
Recognising the importance of salesmanship, Alba also has a range of marketing material available on brake fluid testing and how to explain it to the customer. Every Alba brake fluid tester is supplied with a free poster on Brake Fluid testing to display in your workshop.
Alba exports to more than 30 countries worldwide, including Japan, Taiwan and the USA. In addition to their own manufactured goods, Alba now imports and distributes an expanding range of products for the automotive aftermarket. It has a large warehousing facility and good communication links in Fife, allowing it to import and export on a worldwide basis.
